Eye Conditions

Dr. Carrarini of Latrobe Vision has made it his goal to enable people to enjoy better vision and preserve eye health. He can tell by doing a comprehensive exam whether your blurred vision is due to the need for an updated eyeglass prescription, or whether it is due to an eye condition like cataracts, glaucoma, or retinal disease.

Leading the way with new medications and new procedures, Latrobe Vision can treat a wide range of diseases and conditions that are diagnosed by your doctor of optometry. Advances in technology have impacted all aspects of eyecare. Surgical procedures like cataract extraction that once required a hospital stay and lengthy recovery are now usually performed by his recommended doctors on an outpatient basis, with most patients returning to their normal activities quickly.

We continually invest in state-of-the-art diagnostics and current technology training. Dr. Carrarini goes through rigorous, ongoing training to ensure that we're doing everything we can to improve our patients' vision and quality of life. We're committed to providing the most advanced care available.

For your convenience, we've developed an overview of common eye conditions. Click on any of the conditions on this page to learn more about symptoms, causes and treatments.

You and your family Doctor of Optometry know your eyes better than anyone. If you have been referred to us for a particular eye problem, call 724-532-3727 for an appointment and please have your referring optometrist's name and address handy so that we may appropriately communicate with them. We also perform routine eye exams or write prescriptions for glasses or contact lenses. We are happy to refer you to a qualified surgical doctor in your area for any type of care we do not currently offer ourselves.

Insurance

Treatment of many eye conditions is covered by insurance, including Medicare. If you have questions about what is covered by your private healthcare insurance, contact your plan provider, or provide us with a copy of your insurance card and we'll check for you. We accept most major insurances, with the exception of a few HMO's. Call us at 724-532-3727 with questions.

If you have questions about your Medicare coverage, call 1-800-MEDICARE (1-800-633-4227) to speak to a Medicare Customer Representative. You can also go to medicare.gov to find out more about Medicare coverage. Our staff is always available to help you determine whether the eye care you need is covered by Medicare. Your out-of-pocket expenses for Medicare or private insurance will depend of the type of insurance you have, whether you have supplemental insurance and whether you have a deductible on your policy.

We'll be glad to process all insurance claims for you. We also accept cash, personal checks, Visa, Mastercard and AMEX.
